Tudor Cottage has been submitted for Perth Civic Trust Award Application

Methven Castle

Tudor Cottage in the walled garden at Methven Castle was recently submitted for a Perth Civic Trust Award.

The assessors, Trevor Croft, Reporter to the Scottish Governement & former Director of the National Trust for Scotland and Steve Brady, Manager of The Scottish Civic Trust carried out a visit on 22 May and now we are now eagerly waiting to hear about the results.

The creation of this oak framed cottage, set within two acres has been a long held pipe dream. The connection of Methven Castle to Margaret Tudor, King Henry VIII's sister, was the catalyst to create a design incorporating an oak frame structure.

The staff of Murdoch Chartered Architects are commended for their part in the proposals, as are Carpenter Oak and Woodland who supplied and built the oak frame, David Beveridge Builders who was the main contractor and Ian Ralston, civil contractor, who carried out the landscape works.
